Mike Albert (No response provided)
Connie Jacobsen Drahos
I will represent the people and use common sense while being fiscally responsible with your tax dollars.
David Duball
I have been on our Council for the past two years and have seen many good things come our way. There are a number of things that are in the agenda slated and I would like to see them through. I have also worked the past 6 months for the City of Atkins, as a Intern Water Treatment Plant Operator and have taken first hand experience on working your roads, parks, water and sewer. This gives me some insight what go on a daily basis and how I can better serve the families here at home.

I am proud to be an Atkins resident and plan on being one for a very long time.   I've raised my children here, been involved numerous school activities, and now have grandchildren who spend a great deal of time in Atkins.   I do not have any agenda; I simply would like to see this fine city continue to be an outstanding place to live.

I promise to work hard, try to be open-minded and thoughtful, and approach each issue in front of the Council as an opportunity, not a problem.
Diane Herman
As a member of the council one has to be able to bring forward, address issues, discuss, research, & compromise, at times, to move forward on the issues as they arise.   I can put aside my personal likes & wishes to make decisions for the better of the majority.   I'm active in our community, proud of our city, & will work to try to maintain what we have & to bring reasonable improvements. We must be willing to research & learn the laws & regulations that we must meet when we are working for solutions for problems & planning new projects.
David Jackson
Since 1998, as a member of the fire department, I have expanded my role from being a firefighter to also being a Lieutenant, and the treasurer for our non-profit organization. I have been actively involved with the city in this capacity and have actively served the community during disasters such as the ice storm several years ago where we lost power for several days.

My career has been that of an engineer growing in my career to now being a consultant working with city and regional agencies to make the best investments with their tax money. My career has allowed me to help agencies in Des Moines, Denver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Cincinnati, Baltimore and Charlotte NC to deploy new systems to help their communities best make use of the services these cities provide.

During any future disaster, I will help lead this city in the response and the cleanup. In prior disasters, other than the paid city workers, very little leadership has been shown by council and mayors. This would change

I have over 25 years of business and finance experience along with a Bachelor's Degree in Business from Mount Mercy University.    For the last 10 years I have served in a Management role at Frontier Natural Products in Norway.   During my time at Frontier the company has experienced tremendous growth and success and has doubled in size.   This growth and success has not come without some pain and sacrifice.    Atkins has also experienced growth and needs people to lead and manage it through the growing pains it is experiencing.   It needs proactive leaders who will listen and communicate with all of the citizens through multiple channels of communication and leaders who will be visible to the community at all times and not just at town council meetings.    I have the combination of experience, education and common sense to help lead and manage our community to greater growth and success and look forward to serving the City of Atkins as a member of the city council.

First terms in elected office are always learning terms.   Much to learn, many questions to ask, tons of things you don't know until you're making decisions for a community.   I've learned a lot in the last two years, and want to carry momentum into my second term on projects like recreation/wellness and regulation enforcement.   I am also particularly interested after this first phase on rec/wellness, to assist the Council in more comprehensive planning and recruiting for economic development.   That concern for a more comprehensive plan ties directly to my desire to continue to improve our community in an economically, fiscally, responsible manner. By being so involved with the neighborhood meetings for the last several months, I have had the opportunity to listen to a lot of Atkins residents regarding issues of the city, not just recreation.   That has helped me hear where people are most frustrated or the city most challenged in ensuring resident satisfaction with city services.

I moved to Atkins 32 yrs. ago to avoid high taxes, rules and regulations   of a bigger city, hopefully the city council can keep it that way. If you share   my views I would appreciate your vote.
