The Recreation and Wellness Advisory Committee was convened in the Spring of 2011, by Atkins City Council member, Kevin Korsmo. It was brought together to begin the next phase of the community's efforts to catch up to, and move ahead of, its rapid growth over the last 20 years.
The Council has already addressed upgrading sewage treatment, then water treatment, fire equipment, and associated infrastructure, and now is about to break ground on a new library and city hall. The Council recognized the immediate need to get in front of recreational pressures. and also saw the value in addressing general community 'wellness' which encompassed the recreational needs of Atkins' adults and seniors.
Recognizing the need to avoid putting too much of a load on one person, |
Kevin agreed to put together a committee to oversee the process of community analysis, listening, design, fundraising and development. That committee's members are listed below.
If you are interested in helping this committee do the work of creating the next generation of recreational and wellness assets for the community, and surrounding region, please be sure to contact one of the committee members. There are many ways anyone might assist, so check and see if there is a role you might play.
Remember...this is about the wellness of all of us...not just making sure our youth have something to do.
We look forward to hearing from you! |
